September 2024, Anyway…

Our modern world is a cacophony of information. In a few short lifespans the human race has gone from a severe deficit of information access to a vast surplus, such that we find ourselves drowning in content. It is no wonder that the innovation immediately following the internet was the search engine; how else could we hope to navigate the vast sea of knowledge and distraction?

But the blame for this deluge is not entirely on the internet. Our methods of communication have become so varied and wide spread that we find it harder and harder to sift out the signal from the noise. Radio and television adds, online advertising, social media posts, newspaper blurbs, posters, websites, email blasts, junk-mail fliers, and myriad other options have scattered where the information we seek can be found.

This printing is no newspaper; I include no obituaries or classifieds, no sports sections or inciting headlines over feel good articles. The purpose of this DISPATCH is to help the people of Milton to know what events are happening this month and when. I have done my best to dredge the murky waters of Facebook, online calendars, website listings, newspapers, and other sources to drag forth the many various events we have upcoming this month.

In short, I am attempting to do the legwork, so that you don't have to.

I hope to be able to provide these printings in the future free of charge, ideally with the ink and paper paid for by a little ad revenue, specifically from local small businesses. If you are the owner/operator of a small local business that would like to advertise on the back of the next Milton Event Dispatch, please contact me at Seromilton@gmail.com.

I will attempt to drop off a small stack of copies at various locations around town on the last Saturday of the month (proceeding the month that edition focuses on, obviously). As they are free, they will be first come, first serve.

Our fair community has the motto of “History in Progress”, and given the volume of community events every month, I would say the motto fits. Don't miss out on being part of the town's history. Get out, meet some people, and have a marvelous autumn.
