Supporting Local Events and Organizations

We at the Logosium know that Milton has a distinct and valuable culture along with an active social scene. But while many people know and appreciate these aspects of Milton, others live in or visit the city and are never made aware. So it is our goal to promote Milton’s distinct culture or education, entrepreneurship, and community service, it’s indispensable history and figures, and it’s beautiful facilities and amenities. We are blessed with a thriving live music and art scene, strong involvement in youth sports, unique businesses, and a multitude of public spaces, parks, trails, and events. Milton has so much to offer, it is hard to imagine that anyone could ever utter the words, “There is nothing to do in this town.”

The purpose of the Milton Logosium is to provide community centered services and support to the people of Milton and the surrounding area. As a non-profit (501c3), we rely primarily on donations, sponsorships, and other support from community members to continue operating.

Presently, our main project has been the Milton Event Dispatch, a free monthly periodical that compiles all of the nearby social events into one easy to read (and stylish) print. We distribute hundreds of copies per month throughout Milton, and have sponsorships with several small local businesses. For more information, please go to the Milton Event Dispatch Page.

We are also pleased to be a temporary website host support for the
Milton College Museum. They are doing a fantastic job of keeping Milton’s unique history alive. Please consider donating to them, becoming a member of the Milton College Preservation Society, or just stopping by for a visit during their hours to see the astounding historical collection.

“The Milton…what?”

Logosium (Pronounced low-go-see-um) is a word of our own creation derived from the Greek “logos” meaning words, reason, and discourse and
the Latin suffix “-ium” for a location where an activity occurs.

As such, it means a place of reason or discourse.

Far From the Only One

Part of our goal at the Milton Logosium is to support other Milton non-profit organizations. This is why we have included a “Non-Profit of the Month” section in the Milton Event Dispatch, along with a section for volunteer opportunities. Take a look at some the great organizations below.

  • This non-profit chamber has been bringing together charity and businesses for decades, while putting on numerous public events such as ribbon cutting ceremonies, Business After 5 events, the Makers Market, and the Junction Function

  • Opened in 1991 by Marion Allen, the Gathering Place has been a hub of activity and events in Milton for decades. They may primarily act as a Senior Center, but they host events year round for any age group including the Summer Concert Series on the Gathering Green, a Pumpkin Festival in October, and much more.

  • This dedicated non-profit group is an absolute powerhouse of community event organizing in Milton. They put together the 4th of July Festival and Parade, the Community Day Markets, Parent/Child Dances, a teen Halloween Howl, a lighted Winter Parade, and so much more!

  • There are few things that Milton residents are as proud of as their fantastic public library. The friendly and active staff works overtime to fill the calendar with artistic, literary, and community building events for any age group.

  • This organization of volunteers works diligently to maintain the Ice Age Trail throughout Rock County. With industrious and knowledgeable leaders, they manage weeds, clear fallen trees, rebuild bridges and boardwalks, and generally maintain these fantastic assets.

  • With the goal of keeping the history of Milton College alive, the MCPS is a group of alumni and supporters who volunteer time and resources to maintaining the Main Hall building and the Milton College Museum within.

  • Located on the west side of town, the Milton Area Youth Center provides teens and tweens a safe, clean, and comfortable space to socialize, relax, and find fun activities.

  • Founded with the mission to supply the employment needs of people with disabilities, Kandu has developed into a space for disabled adults to thrive, work, socialize, and find out their value. They also host numerous fund public events in Milton.

  • The local Masonic Lodge has been a part of Milton since 1866. Today, its members can be found volunteering at just about any event around Milton. They also host an annual Fish Fry and regular meetings.
